HTTP 'Next Generation'
نویسندگان
چکیده
We report on the results of the Protocol Design Group of the W3C's HTTP ``Next Generation'' Activity. The group produced and measured a prototype that shows it is possible, largely using familiar engineering principles, to make simultaneous improvements in the following problem areas of HTTP/1.1 [Fie99]: (1) the layering of other application protocols over HTTP, (2) modularity and extensibility, (3) networking performance and fairness, (4) the rigid binding between identifiers and protocol stacks, and (5) the opacity of layered traffic to firewalls. The prototype also suggests that these can be done in a way that may lead to unifying the web with related middleware systems such as COM [Bro95, Msf99a, Kin97], CORBA [OMG99], and Java RMI [Sun99].

Archiving next generation sequencing data
Next generation sequencing platforms are producing biological sequencing data in unprecedented amounts. The partners of the International Nucleotide Sequencing Database Collaboration, which includes the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), and the DNA Data Bank of Japan (DDBJ), have established the Sequence Read Archive (SRA) to prov...
متن کاملObject Models for the World Wide Web
The World Wide Web was designed mainly for viewing documents, which nowadays necessitates inelegant software engineering for developing interactive applications. Improving the current Web’s simple distributed object system by introducing more sophisticated object-oriented concepts can facilitate Web application development. The general idea of web object models is depicted, current technologies...
متن کاملManipulation of FASTQ data with Galaxy
SUMMARY Here, we describe a tool suite that functions on all of the commonly known FASTQ format variants and provides a pipeline for manipulating next generation sequencing data taken from a sequencing machine all the way through the quality filtering steps. AVAILABILITY AND IMPLEMENTATION This open-source toolset was implemented in Python and has been integrated into the online data analysis...
